For Gloria, Lonely Boy I might agree with you.
But the most of it sounds very good
in a different way than the originals. Imo an orchestra creates an awesome powerfull, pompous, grandiose feeling to almost any type of music...specially Jarre's music. Still of course they didn't catch exactly the same atmosphere, same kind of interesting sounds that really screams at you to activate your brain, to really "explore" the music that makes you fly beyond the milky way. You just lie back and let this ocean of acoustic notes and tones wash over you and hit you right in the stomach. Hard to explaine but simply 2 different dimensions of the same melodies.
@Android: I must agree that MF 1 doesn't seem to be the best track of this album, but I think it's entertaining to hear how they really gives it a serious try to play a (somewhat) acoustic version (I don't wright "cover" because Jarre and Samard obviously had a small part in this project) and there are lots of other tracks on TSJMJ that seems to be a fantastic show of very scilled, highly professional classic musicians giving us a whole new view of Jean Michel Jarre's music. It's an understatement to rule out a project of this scale only because of a few tracks less good...I look at it as a "nice try" and really enjoy the rest of them.
