Well, if you are so concerned about being disappointed, then stay at home. Maybe you've been at too many Jarre concerts or watched too many of his concert videos and grown tired of his music.

Unless that first statement means something else - you are saying yourself too.

Yes - people are frightened to once again hear this AERO thing, and that's not that strange. Most of us (speaking on behalf of most of the fans) - are enlightened to see the continuation of the Oxygene Tour in a "best-of"-format, but at the same time you have to realise there is some sort of Copyright issue going on between JMJ and Mr. Dreypu$ - so it's not that unlikely he will end up playing AERO versions of the tracks. Especially when a 'flute' is mentioned - something very specifically AERO... on the other hand there is enough info that shows otherwise, but we'll have to wait and see.

I'm happy to see JMJ in Amsterdam in May - but I might bring a box of rotten eggs, just in case he pulls of the AERO-playback-show-with-orchestra-backing again...

Some good points, still the flute has never been a part of the Aero tracks, it has just been a part of his setup recently along with the use of Aero tracks.

What I meant about the "possibly my last" comment is that Jarre isn't that often in Norway (and I live a 2 hour flight away from Oslo and have booked a hotel room to be able to go to the concert, so even Oslo is a stretch for me economically and practically). And who knows - maybe this is his last big tour? So this might be my first and last Jarre concert.


Of course, I do understand and appreciate that people want as much of the music to be live as possible (which was not the case with the AERO tracklist played at several concerts). But concluding that this will be the case on the new tour based on the fact that the word "flute" is mentioned in a text from a promoter is a bit of a stretch IMO, and not a much more logical conclusion than saying that a laser harp means we'll get the Houston songlist.

I think the mention of the flute had myself and others worried about the arrangements rather than the setlist. The Oxygene Live music, arrangements, performance and atmosphere was so good that a possible return to the mis-en-scene and arrangements of the Aero - style concerts would be a step back IMO.

Beijing for example, was a debacle and an insult to the fans who went to the considerable trouble of going there - and no amount of choruses of "you had to be there" makes one bit of difference IMO. I despaired of where JMJ was going at that point, and it didn't get any better with the likes of the Linx and Tea & Tea showcases.

My worry would be any sort of return to shows like that - however good the on stage design would be.
For me the music is all. Of course the Jarre community will tell us all during the first few concerts.

I don't care what he uses or plays, as long as he comes to the UK and plays in concert. I am eternally grateful for that.

That's great but at the same time I am curious why a rock radio station is advertising it. Oh well, as long as there is some form of advertising must not complain.

If it's not 50's music, it's 60's - but rarely... sometimes, there's 70's and 80's stuff and the rest of the time, it's just the same endless chart bilge churned over and over until you're sick of it.. I'm fed up of girl/boy bands.... have been since... ooo.. 'bout 1990.... my taste woke up one day when a certain frenchman did a concert in Paris... and I've never looked back


as you can probably guess, I don't listen to to Manchesters radio stations - even though I live there... once I have my mp3 player loaded the way *I* like it - all is good... in fact bbc radio Manchester has been voted one of the worst radio stations...

I rest my case..

I guess I just prefer to listen to electronic(a) all day every day

Whatever JMJ decides to play is fine by me. The flute isn't an issue. Are there tracks I want to hear... Yes! Are there tracks I don't want to hear... Yes. Will it spoil my night if he plays something I hate... No! Just possibly he might play it in a way that I actually like.

At this time we should all be getting behind JMJ and not bickering about petty items like flutes, AERO, etc.

The thing is - studio is studio... live is... live.. different... unique on the night - like the oxygene tour was.. each venue will have it's quirks and memories - some good, some bad... the thing is, we'll be there to make that difference... if we're not there, we're doing nothing... by being there, we make the memories and the night for what it is - not for what it could be.

granted, the advertising has been thin - but it's still early days, and the reports indicate that even with minimal advertising, tickets are selling really well with the MEN arena almost three quarters full already...

Tonight, we watched the original concerts in china on vhs... y'know, when I thought about it, he's shook hands with many people, performed in unlikely venues and he still keeps on going!
I would value a smile to the crowd as a personal visual handshake that I would hold dear....

For the time I am in that arena, i'll be under that magical spell once the WFC begins and the lights slowly dim - as they did last year at the Opera House. A night I'll never forget...

I'm sitting here now just counting down to the day where I'll be stood at the top of the steps outside the arena watching the day slip away and the crowd number rise...

It's all 'sense' orientated... you gotta put yourself there... live and feel the moment and relish each one and appreciate it..

And it's not just the concert - it's the socialising with other fans too before and afterwards...

It looks like not everybody knows about the playback. So some are actually convinced that the AERO tracks were played live. I was a few inches from writing about playback, but I don't know what it will result in... hmm... would it harm anybody?
