In the immortal words of Forrest Gump, "Stupid is is stupid does." Stupidity is not restricted to any ethnic, national, economic, or age bracket (I should know, I do technical support on the phone for a living). Some are just using this situation (as was done in LA) to portray themselves as righteous "victims" who are somehow justified in their vandalism, looting, and violence. The economy may be a catalyst, but this is thuggery, plain and simple.

I hope my friends in the U.K. will get through this rough time.

The rioting has stopped, thankfully. In the past 2 days some 800 people have been arrested over the incidents, and processed. In Birmingham, a huge 6 mtr high TV screen showing screen caps taken on CCTV of rioters has been erected and in the past 24 hours nearly 100 people have been arrested due to it.

Germany must defend the Euro

"Financial markets abhor uncertainty; that is why they are now in crisis mode. The governments of the eurozone have taken some significant steps in the right direction to resolve the euro crisis but, obviously, they did not go far enough to reassure the markets."

Pfff. Like Europe is one thing, one country and one culture. It's a continent for crying out loud. There is no "we" - I don't feel related to ANY other european nation or its inhabitants whatsoever...

... all this debate ... ... in the end, we are all citizens of this planet ( or not, as the case may be ... :P ). Countries and nationalities are just the end product of man-made lines on a map ..... just because you live on one side of a line , and someone else lives on the other doesn't automatically make you different species from each other .... We are all ONE. 8)

Sadly, try expalining that to the scum who started the rioting and looting this week gone. However, the UK has always been seen in a stereotypical fashion of hooligans and bullies. Just shows how behind the times others can be.
