Audience recording of Chine... Ow dear lord *Fans himself*

I'd say the possibility of finding a fan recording of concert in China is way lower compared to finding one of la concorde. They were all poor under communism, it's very doubtful that an average chinese person would own such equipment at that time, and even if someone did, how would he sneak it past security?. Actually I'm not even interested in seeing it, I mean..it was indoor- the performance was downgraded due to it being live, you barely even recognize the tunes. Now Place de la concorde on the other hand was a massive outdoor event with fireworks visuals and a million people, at least one of them must have brought a tape recorder or maybe even video-camera.. But of course, that's rather wishful thinking..

Sorry to shoot this one down...but.. When camcorders were first introduced, they were bulky shoulder-operated luggables that cost over $1,500 US dollars. Portable camcorders only really started being made from the mid 80's with the 8mm video tape and the vhs-c format. Even still they, cost a lot of money, I know, used to sell them back in the early 90's. The tapes only ever lasted between 30 minutes and 90 minutes (although you could select Long Play to extend, but at the detriment of quality). They couldn't record well at night without a decent lamp, hence why even the TV broadcast of Place La Concorde doesn't show a lot of the visuals being projected onto buildings.
The point am making is this.. Unless someone took a cine camera to JMJ's earlier concerts you can forget that anyone ever made a home recording with a camcorder. They where simply too expensive, too big and cumbersome for the average person to own.

I've got to admit, this is one of the best JMJ audience video recordings I've ever seen. Hoping to be able to download it in better-than-YouTube quality someday!

Then again, my greatest wish would be to find an uncut video recording of Paris La Defense. Even though they most likely never made an edit with all the tracks intact. So I guess I'd have to find all the recorded video footage from that night. And to achieve this I'd need to assemble a team of handy, misfit JMJ enthusiast ninjas in order to break into the vaults where this footage is currently located. They might be stored inside the Ark of the Covenant and guarded by 7-feet-tall reptile Übersoldaten, though. Who's with me?

I have the official VHS-Video, I can rember a Tv-broadcast in Germany ----live or a few days later ???--- don`t know whether the video deviates from this.

I wonder do CCTV (China State TV) have anything in their archive. You can see cameras in the concert halls on the official CiC VHS.

reading some review a while back that recording was made by Central TV in the UK. The film crew DID film the entire concerts, had absolutley everything recorded ...

Hi everyone.

I love this concert as this was the one that got me into Jean Michel's music. I can still recall my amazement at flicking through Saturday late night tv and coming across these guys on Channel 4 playing all this music I somehow knew yet could not place! And the setting of the Eiffel Tower just put the icing on the cake!

Anyways, I came across the following video on Youtube quite by accident the other night. It's called Le Regard de Charlotte, which is "Charlotte's view," and is Charlotte Rampling following JMJ around with a video camera during rehearsals for Concert Pour La Tolerance.

It also has an interview (in French) with Charlotte, and follows JMJ as he walks under the gangway stage to enter for Chronologie 6. Then follow some scenes from the concert.

Enjoy if you haven't seen it before.
