Still like the album very much though, hell Vintage is the typical Les Chants Magnetiques Part 4 / Fourth Rendez-Vous / Chronologie Part 4 type of track and I absolutely love it! :D

A few days ago, as reported here, she was singing at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, and Jean-Michel Jarre attended this concert : on Thursday, we mentioned Jarre's new musical project with David L.

From the same page

"David L. recently gave an interview to Paris Match at the International Thriller Film Festival at Beaune (in which we found our actual cover photo).

In this interview, David L. mentioned a little musical project. The french composer Jean-Michel Jarre has recently sent him a few songs and asked him to mix them. David L. says that he doesn't know how they will be used, but he did it.'

Because we are speaking about an artist who is a perfectionist. :)

Not knocking anyone's views or JMJ, but being a "perfectionist" does not enter into the scheme of things when you have to make a living and work to a time scale. An artist like Jarre has a time frame to work too if he is signed to a record label. They will only invest time and money into the venture if he can deliver and deliver on time. His last studio work was 2007. Since then we have had nothing but rumour after rumour from him that a album was in the works. It may be so, but dates that were mentioned have come and gone. If Jarre was with a record label, then the album would have been released as outlined above. There is no way he can be with anyone, so he is taking his time because that is exactly what he has, time. If he was with a record label they would be screaming down his neck to have the work finished in time. Personally I think JMJ has lost his way. He has become a 'was' rather than a 'is'. Shame really because the fans are suffering because of the outcome. It is almost like Jarre is disappearing into the background instead of being the forerunner.

In what way are fans suffering?

If he's called it a day then we have his catalogue of great music to enjoy, in my view this is preferable to the model of the likes of Edgar Froese who is intent on releasing as many albums as possible until he croaks, each slightly more useless than the last one.

If Jarre wanted to make his swansong album it would almost certainly be Oxygene 14 - 20 which would delight and annoy in equal measure, with those that love the old stuff and those that wanted something new. Either way he's going to struggle, his heart possibly just isn't in it any more.

Good luck to him, I'm certainly not 'suffering'.

Just my opinion, JM does his best and tries to fulfil his expectations. That makes him a perfectionist, for example. If for any other reason this goes against fans then that it up to them whether or not to support him. This does not just apply to JM but other artists as well. Fans should not dictate of what is expected of an artist. He is expanding his skills in other areas and is not disappearing, thank goodness i.e. CISAC President, attending Ibiza International Music Summit. Not necessarily disappearing because there is no new album, at the moment.

Except that a new album has been announced since 2009, so it's not that fans should dictate what is expected. He created that expectation himself and keeps promising a new album "by the end of this year". No wonder people get disappointed.
