Of course, if the new album ever came out the first reaction would be "This sucks" :P With that in mind, even I would focus on stuff like CISAC instead (despite finding the whole thing really silly, but alas).

Still, if anything, I'm still hoping that one day they'll release PLD on DVD and while that would already be quite fine for me (provided that it'd have a max 5 € price tag), it'd be even better if they could supply a 2 CD set of the full PLD concert along with it ;) But as 11 years of being a part of the community has shown me, that's not gonna happen.

Shame.

It is plain to see that Jean Michel is focusing more of his time on other things. He would not be doing them if they were not important to him. He clearly wants to make a difference. That is a positive note. However, the negative note is that it is taking him away from what fans expect of him. You could say we are very much to blame for this. He's not a recluse or a hobbit, he must read fans posts from time to time, if not, be told of what fans expect from him. He must think a lot of pressure has been put upon his shoulders as more time passes by. Maybe he feels he cannot meet fans expectations. You have to be in the right mood and atmosphere to produce works on his level. He is not a light you can switch on and off. He has said in the past he needs something to motivate him to work in the studio. Again, maybe, he has tracks done but not to his liking and what he feels should be released. After such a long length of time he wants his work to be right and for fans to like. The let down that was T&T still must plague him into wanting a album that is right, different but in all essence JMJ. But then fans want classic Jarre. Classic Jarre was the 70s and 80s, a time long ago... 30/40 years ago. Maybe, again, he doesn't want to create that style anymore and move along with the times. If the next studio album is of Jarre working with people such as Newman, Clarke, Carpenter and Lynch, then this is not a album of classic Jarre and Jarre as we have known him from the past half-a-century, its something radical and a big leap from Jarre. And that brings us back to expectations from fans. If this is the approach Jarre is doing, personally, I think it may be wise for Jarre to release a track and get feedback from fans of this new approach before committing fully to a album of this type. Then he and we will get the answer to our question.

Just my two-penneth worth on the matter :D

wasn't the album already in the mastering/mixing stage sometime summer last year?? I don't exactly recall the rumour history but there must be recorded/composed material ready now for at least three albums... So I don't care if this were to be download only, but just put it out there!

That it is possibly delayed to coincide with a big concert... If that is really the case I find it nonsense. As if record sales will be seriously affected by a big concert. These concerts are not even shown on tv so no one but the fan community, who will buy an album anyway-anytime, will view the concert on whatever crappy streaming website or attend physically. Moreover, the big concerts have been rumours themselves for the past years so if you wait for that you can wait forever, too. You miss maybe one or two years worth of record sales just by waiting for a big concert that may or may not ever happen. Therefore the wait to coincide with a big concert is something I find hard to believe and, if true, all the more silly.

I suspect inspiration has just dried up and we're not ever getting a proper, individually composed and produced, studio album anymore. That would be a pity for the fans but perfectly understandable from the artist view. He's made plenty of great albums and for everyone there's a time for retirement from active composing. The only thing I'd wish is that we'd simply get some words from the master himself about what's going on. Something like he's been trying to compose several tracks over the years but wasn't happy with them and he threw them away or he feels like doing other things or he might still compose a new album but we shouldn't count on it or whatever. No fan or other prospective buyer will buy any possible future album or other release more or less, by giving the fans these kinds of possible insights now. What's the whole point of the information silence?

In the meantime, there's great new music out there from for example Todd Terje ('It's Album Time', which even features an 'Instruments used' list in the booklet for us synthheads :)) and many other artists like Sebastien Tellier, Junior Boys etc.

and equinoxe is timeless and unsurpassable so we can always continue to listen to that

I know it's a long shot but my guess about the constantly postponed new album(s) is linked to his work at CISAC. He doesn't release any new album, physical or digital, before he has made clear that he will have a good or decent profit out of it. It's my guess. That's what his work at CISAC is all about both for himself and artists at any level. I mean if his musical motivation/creativity is totally lost it shouldn't have been the hardest thing for a man in his position to tell it exactly like it is to his dispairing fans.

It is an honor for JM to be President of CISAC, a new role which he values. Should be accepted if it makes him happy. I can understand the time taken up with this role may effect his responsibilities as a musician but the waiting will be worth it for the "penciling" in for the new studio album in 2015!

The problem with "penciled" dates is that they can be easily erased.

Yep exactly, but if using a permanent marker that would be a different case...

Rant Follows:

Firtstly, I have been a fan of JMJ since 84, went to Docklands, PLD, Wembley, Marigny, enjoyed the Monaco concert.

Secondly: No new album since that dreadful Teo and Tea.

Thirdly: No news on the big concert in Perth???

So many years have passed when i have looked at this forum for updates only to be constantly disappointed. JMJ collaborating with Gary Newman ( a has been from the 80's), a new ablum in 21xx (pun intended). Sadly now i believe the next release will be found in the bargain bucket at Lidl, if it indeed ever happens.

JMJ - playnig the same old set list year after year after year is tiresome and one I am loathe to lsten to. It is blatantly obvious during Oxygene 2 that you are key synching as nowhere is there a wrong note played.

Please, give us an official update from you or here is one die hard fan that will give up hope.

JEAN MICHEL JARRE: NEW SONY RE-MASTERED ALBUM RELEASES

After half a decade of going it alone without being signed to a major record label, Jean Michel Jarre signed a new contract with Sony Music last year, ahead of his proposed new studio album release, which is currently pencilled in for an early 2015 release.

This will be his first new studio album release since 2007's 'TEO & TEA' on the Warner Music France label (not counting the re-release of 'OXYGENE' on the EMI label later that same year).

The new contract with Sony Music allows for the re-mastering and re-releasing of Jean Michel Jarre's entire back catalogue, and the first of these re-mastered releases should be available from April 25th 2014 in both digital and physical formats.

Jean Michel Jarre's Management have confirmed to JARRE UK, that the re-mastered releases are expected to be released over the coming months, and although some will have updated artwork, there will be no changes to the tracklisting from the original album releases, and no bonus tracks added.

The first wave of remastered releases appears to include 'OXYGENE', 'EQUINOXE', 'MAGNETIC FIELDS', 'THE CONCERTS IN CHINA', 'CITIES IN CONCERT: HOUSTON / LYON' and 'DESTINATION DOCKLANDS' at the time of writing.

Jean Michel Jarre's Management have also confirmed to JARRE UK that there are no current plans for any of Jean Michel Jarre's previously released videos and DVDs to be re-released on Blu-Ray, and this includes any previously unreleased footage. There are also no current plans for any major concerts to take place this year.

JARRE UK would like to thank Aero Productions for this information.
