"The recording of Jean-Michel Jarre's concert in China at the "Forbidden City" was a success and David Perreau was awarded the THX Ultra 2 award by George Lucas."

This should do it, I have set it to viewer, so I think that allows downloads. If not, let me know I will change it.
Thank you very much for sharing this.
I understand the process of doing your own remastering... Sometimes you are better served by yourself. No problem considering doing it with a K7, with a vinyl, especially depending on the equipment used to digitize these media.
The CD is less obvious. We tell ourselves that nothing beats the original.
Then comes the frustration of completely failed remastered editions.
I've done this (my remaster) with the 'Concerts in China' 40th anniversary edition.

Beyond the record quality, I wonder where I was in 1988 for having forgotten the original intro to the strack Révolution, Révolutions. I rediscovered it and realized that I only have versions with the Arabic orchestration.
Was the CD very widespread and accessible in 1988 in France? (wow capricious memory ;-) )

I wonder how many original albums ultimately underwent changes like this?
Like for example Zoolook, quite quickly with the remix version and in a different order from Zoolook and Zoolookologie.
The 2 different mixes of Cities in Concert: Houston/Lyon. The Hong Kong album which is shortened to 1 CD version, or Jarremix with one less mix in second intention.
Besides, this could be the subject of a post... all these differences

For my part, since Zoolook 40 years edition, I have returned to the essentials, to the origins. Long live the breath, the crackling, the authentic.
I'm glad that you like it, I am worried that the revolutions master is a touch over clean and bit sharp but i think it was intended like this. I went back to the first edition for the source (blue inlay) from 1988. The Arabic intro only came in on much later editions. I have a dark turquoise inlay edition in my collection, and it is still the original. I think emigrant sounds top, so that is a win lol

I went back to the CD for zoolook as it was a digital released from a digital recording (44/16) so it seemed the best place to start. I listened to the 30th anniversary edition 10 years ago and thought it was awful, so I dug out my original CD it sounded much better, so i worked with the idea of trying to get it sounding as good but just a little better (the drums on ethnicolor gave me nightmares lol)

They do like mess around with things for various releases. I've lost track of how versions of concerts in China there are!

Apologies, the revolutions remaster that I added to the drive was a complete load of toss. It was far too harsh and toppy and made my ears bleed!

I have now amended it and uploaded it in the others place, so sorry.

I like them, they sound very organic. Hiss and everything.
Ok, so just to make sure: there "2011" files that you uploaded are NOT your remasters, but the 96/24 transcripts, correct?
Yes.
Thanks. Just FYI these 96/24 have basically no audio information beyond 22kHz, except really quiet spikes (even if they had had it would've been inaudible, unless it was the speaker introducing distortion), typical "hi-res audio" :) Obviously no fault of yours.

The 22kHz low pass filtering is quite evident in the spectrogram (pictured Chants Magnetiques V), except for those spikes >22kHz (they seem to occur where particularly high frequencies are present in the recording. i.e. the "hi-hats" or "maracas" (or whatever we want to call them) in this particular case)

Yes, they seem to have cleaned up Ethnicolor. At least those most obvious glitches seem to be gone. I'm not hearing the clicks either.

But yeah, an apology would be in order...

EDIT: ok, unsure about whether the clicks are still there or not, have a listen yourselves

On the Spotify version, the egregious mistakes at 9:58 and 10:26 seem to have been fixed but there still are notable clicks at many parts (for example, at 3, 5, 7 and 11 seconds in).

I'd compare them further to the 1984 and 1997 CD versions that I've got, but now my brain keeps adding fake muted/ghost clicks to those as well : p

On the new one, those clicks are a 100% still there. What a disaster...

I confirm and it's curious, I get this kind of clicks when recording vinyl for rendering in digital audio files.

it's definitely not perfect yet while the problem of weak sound on the right channel at 2min10sec on Ethnicolor II is corrected

Sounds much better. I dont know if they will amend the digital download.

Sadly yes, but given that I couldn't pick them up on my laptop speakers this time it means they are much subtler (also they are definitely not in the same spots). But yeah, they're still there and it really wouldn't be hard to remove them. It would be likely a 10-minute job, most of which would be listening carefully to pinpoint them.

No time for that, I guess...

The "updated" Ethnicolor is 4 seconds longer. Yes, this is the version with the extra bell sound around 6:48 (same as the 1997 and 2014 releases). The version I ripped off Youtube Music one month ago was 11:41, this one is now 11:45.

Explained here:

viewtopic.php?p=200061#p200061

So obviously they just changed the source.

EDIT: Zoolook is now also 3:59 instead of 3:52. And sounds like the 1997 version (evident in the intro when the drums kick in)

Sooo, looks like they just repackaged the 1997 version (maybe except Zoolookologie which is 4:18 as opposed to 4:14 in 1997 and 4:21 in 2015) Jeeezus christ.

This will not prevent JM to ask Dadwater for future release mastering. :D

By the way, this "new" Ethnicolor seems to have swapped channels. Honestly now I'm not sure which one is correct.

In THIS one the first vocal effect at 00:48 is in the RIGHT channel, the following low vocal effect a couple seconds later is in the LEFT. The November release had it the other way round, first LEFT, then RIGHT. All the versions I checked on YouTube are first LEFT, then RIGHT. So it looks like the new one is f**ked up.
