I think he could remix one of the Deserted Palace track to sound more modern for a 21st century audience.

I agree and when Essentials & Rarities was released in 2011, it included the two fab RMX remixes of La Cage and Erosmachine. It is a shame that he's missed obvious opportunity for modern takes and fresh thinking this time around.

But in another way, I think he's already done this. I see Oxymore as a modern day Deserted Palace. A series of noisy, percussive, spikey, stand-alone tracks, not a suite of melodic, flowing tracks all under one concept. No Part 1, 2, 3 etc but individual track titles that are unusual and intriguing, esp. for lyric-free instrumental music.

I think there's still reason to suspect this may have been remastered from vinyl. Spectrogram analysis (from Bandcamp via soundcard so not the best quality, still ok for this purpose though) shows slight warbling during Windswept Canyon.

Highlighted section is one pitch warp from trough to trough. It's around 1.8 seconds, aka the time it takes for 1 revolution to occur on vinyl at 33 rpm.

Waveform sowed no obvious signs of it being from vinyl right away, such as low frequency rumble, which is why I didn't notice at first.

He had serious personal issues at that time, his mother passed away and he divorced again, which was too much for him at the time, he could not do any creative work, so he just did tours with old material instead.

I think Oxymore has a darker, more industrial sound, it's closer to Happiness is a sad song, La Cage, Erosmachine than the likes of Bridge of Promises, Poltergeist Party or Windswept Canyon, but I understand what you mean.

I guess the fadeout to Bridge of Promises / Blackbird has been "reintroduced" - in the 2011 E&R release you could hear the audio peaking/breaking at that part - which didn't really bother me that much and it provided a few new extra seconds after all

After 'Les Granges Brûlées,' I hope this is the beginning of a long list of releases like Aor, MFS... let's dream.

MFS should NEVER get a release.... it would ruin the whole point of that project! But agree about AOR and other materials, although I am most interested not in pre-Oxygene materials but in "unreleased and extras" from 1990 - 2000. I am curious as to what didn't make the final versions of Cousteau, Chronologie, Oxygene 7-13 and Métamorphoses. Assuming, that it, the outakes, demos etc were actually kept and not destroyed in the creative process.

But agree about AOR and other materials, although I am most interested not in pre-Oxygene materials but in "unreleased and extras" from 1990 - 2000. For Metamorphoses, he did a C'est la Vie part 2, he did Crazy Saturday, which he later reused for Printemps de Bourges and also a track called Lonely beat, which was apparently a Massive Attack style trip hop song.

Good spot. Also, Face A Track 4 (A Loue Theme For Gargoyles) is not credited to J.M. Jarre for some reason. Just another clumsy mistake and a typo, like Hitch-Miker?

I hope the back of the sleeve is not final then. I hope they fix the typos like the one I mentioned before and also "Loue theme for gargoyles" (with no writing credit to JM Jarre).
