Coincidentially, I'm listening to the China 2004 concert audio commentary and about RV4 says that this is a stadium number and because of it being an anthem, it's hard to incorporate in concerts where he thinks it doesn't fit. Outdoor concerts usually work well.Jarrepeggiator wrote: Sun Jun 01, 2025 11:55 pm He hates Rendez-Vous 4.
He said it multiple times. As an encore and in general. He plays it, because he knows the fans love it.
I remember his face when he played it in Bratislava last year, he was almost laughing at the crowd, thinking "Why are you enjoying this so much?".

I know JMJ doesn't like this track and I also know he had to be persuaded by Michel Geiss to keep it. In my post I am expressing surprise he asked somebody if it would make a good encore. He clearly knows it makes a good encore. Because he used it as such.Jarrepeggiator wrote: Sun Jun 01, 2025 11:55 pmHe hates Rendez-Vous 4.Richard-Eastham wrote: Sun Jun 01, 2025 10:57 pm He needed to ask if Rendezvous 4 would make a good encore?! Just looked it up at my notes. It was the press conference for the 2010 tour. We had a short chat afterwards and he asked me if I thought it would be a good idea to play Rendez-Vous 4 (at all). So, it was not the question if it would make a good encore. My memory was misleading me here. But it seems he is always unsure if it's a good idea to play it at all.Richard-Eastham wrote: Mon Jun 02, 2025 5:57 pmI know JMJ doesn't like this track and I also know he had to be persuaded by Michel Geiss to keep it. Yes, that's also possible. But omitting Oxygene 8 in Bratislava was a question of time, otherwise the show would have been too long for the TV broadcast.Jarrepeggiator wrote: Sun Jun 01, 2025 11:58 pm
It's also perfectly possible that he has too many tracks, there are 3-4 tracks that he is looking at and he wants to see which of them appear in these replies, which is the most known or popular one of them, so he will exclude the ones which are not mentioned.
Sometimes he decides to exclude a track on the day of the concert. Which was the case with Oxygene 8 in Bratislava last year.
A few weeks ago, I thought about that possibility, but then I heard the new version of Magnetic Fields 1 and saw that the rhythm was quite electronic and left little room for Wallis. But..... who knows...

I too bailed the E tour, but the teasers with MF1 (effectively nothing new, slight, not especially interesting remix) is not enough to me to reconsider. Perhaps after the first concerts.Jote wrote: Sat May 31, 2025 7:43 pm Or perhaps we should stop deluding ourselves about JMJ's relevance in today's world. It was already visible on the Electronica tour. I myself bailed on this tour, because I wasn't expecting anything new, although now I'm seriously reconsidering going given those MF1 teasers.
Here's the full broadcast.
