On the 36th anniversary of (the first day of) this concert, I do wonder if anyone has dabbled with AI audio enhancers with an echo/reverb removal function and tried it out on the radio broadcasts of the concert?

(All the first Google result ones of course don't do jack :P)

Nice to get audience recordings from the 2nd night (given the "frogs like rain" speech ;))

It became clear that, at least in Overture, the audio from the film and the album is from the first night and not the second.

Yeah, you can faintly hear the "Woo-hoo!" from this part of the audience recording at the corresponding part in the Jarre Live album version

(Or maybe I can hear it only due to subconsciously expecting it ;))

Wow. Would love to hear the whole show. It didn’t sound that good on the night!

Did it rain on both nights? Or just one of the nights? Did JMJ make any reference to the first night in his second night speeches? Do we know the audience attendance numbers for each night individually? Questions, questions.... 😊

Happy Christmas everyone!

It rained most of the first day, but stopped just before the show started, and held off through the whole show. So any footage of the show in the rain is from the second night. There were high winds though, meaning a number of things planned for the show were abandoned - the stage was supposed to move to the middle of the dock, so the audience could see the projections on the warehouses without the stage being in the way - and the cranes were supposed to move during Industrial Revolution - neither happened. There was also a large free-standing projection screen to stage right, that mostly tore away in the high wind. This would have evened up the screens - one stage left, one behind, one to the right of the stage. It isn't visible anywhere in the TV footage - I guess it was took down after the first night.

And Merry Christmas!

Awesome! Got to give it a full go later

I do like how he was already doing the "does this thing even work?" bit regarding the laser harp in 1988 ;)

[EDIT] And at this part the "someone accidentally bumping the mic" thing sounds more like a percussion now

That's amazing. I can remember my Mum and Dad (who attended the second night show) telling me when I was young that as the show was starting people were screaming at others to take their umbrellas down. It's crazy that all these years later I can hear just that on this recording haha. I'll have to send them the link.

It always amazes me seeing the stuff that surfaces from time to time. It makes me wonder what else is out there sitting in some drawer or box.
Concerts Attended :
