We are currently researching a feature documentary by the German filmmaker Uli Gaulke about the extraordinary impact of Jean-Michel Jarre's music on people around the world.
Rather than making a traditional music documentary, we are interested in the personal stories behind the music.
Over the past months, our research has already taken us to very different parts of the world. We have spoken with fans, collectors, musicians, radio hosts, journalists, scientists, and many others in countries including China, Chile, and Cuba, discovering stories that have been as surprising as they are deeply moving. Again and again, we found that Jean-Michel Jarre's music became a catalyst for creativity, friendship, technological curiosity, hope, resilience, and sometimes even quiet acts of resistance or personal freedom. These encounters convinced us that this is not simply a story about an artist, but about the people who made his music part of their own lives.
Now we are looking for more stories.
We are looking for people whose connection to Jean-Michel Jarre's work, especially the album OXYGÈNE, but also his other music has played a meaningful role in their lives.
Perhaps his music inspired you to become an artist, musician, scientist, or engineer. Maybe it helped you through a difficult period, gave you hope during times of change, or became the soundtrack to an important chapter of your life. Or perhaps your connection to his music is something entirely unexpected.
At this stage, we are simply researching the project, and we would love to hear any story that feels meaningful to you. We are especially interested in personal, surprising, and unique experiences, whether they seem big or small. Often, it is the stories no one expects that are the most powerful.
