Jarre is the composer of the works not a listener its hard to step outside of the composer environment to become just a sheer listener of your own Music.there is far too much involvment into the elements that you can't "Just listen" any composer will tell you that
I would doubt that Jarre listens to his music in a Normal context other than when hes trying to cast a perspetive of different situations/Setups.
I try and avoid listening to my own music,outside of the studio,when you work on something for months on end,its hard to listen to it optimisitcally and enjoy it in normal listening situations
I'm sure he appreciates his musics qualities,but I just can't picture Jarre sitting there chilling to his own tracks!!
Now and again listening to your own stuff is acceptible,but any artist needs to absorb other material or you run the risk of becoming immersed in a self perpetuating bubble and lose any direction on Musical inspiration
In the same way,I know artists who try and AVOID any music in day to day life unless there recording,which when your a musician is pretty damn hard to do even outside of the studio,as you live,breath, eat Music,in this day and age its pretty hard to isolate yourself from Music.
