Geez - I wouldn't like fans demanding things like that... at least there's a third keyboardist now. I'm not saying I don't like a bassguitarist and a drummer on stage, but where exactly did he work with those musicians on an album..?

Exactly. Never expect a band like 10 years ago. That era is over, JMJ don't need all those musicians for live performances.
It's a little sad, but I don't think JMJ will go back in time, we can just think back on those days. Maybe it will just make those concerts even more unique :)
JMJ doesn't need that?

You are so wrong.

I'm with Jones on this one, no live band no Antigoon. I've seen over a dozen JMJ concerts, all with band like it's suppossed to.

If I wanna hear a CD I'll just use the one at home...
I would like to see a band again but why not look on the bright side instead of being disappointed because JMJ don't need 5 bandmembers. I remember something about "it is not neccesary anymore with so many musicians due to newer technology". Things are changing whether you like it or not.

I don't really care if it's necessary or not in his opinion, I still prefer the band 8)

Since when is playback a new technology? Hasn't this been around from the moment TOTP started?

I fail to see the point in traveling to the middle of nowhere to watch a guy mime on stage, that's a waste of money IMO.

IMO it's as boring as watching a stuntman driving very carefully around a fire....

I actually think it has something to do about using computers and sequencers on stage, but I can't say more as I hardly remember it. Besides that, JMJ didn't want to use a live drummer and he didn't like being another 'pop' band. It was something about that. Someone in here should know it precisely.

I think many of us in here can agree on that.

Yeah, he literally said "I don't want my music to look like pop/rock, cause it's not". And although I love the idea of a band on stage, I think those times are behind us. In stead of demanding and having such personal expectations, you'd better enjoy when he does what HE wants to do. He's the artist after all. Saying "I don't like this or that album, or this and that concert, because it's not what I want it to be" - that sounds like a freaking mainstream commercial point of view to me... Madonna, Robbie Williams, U2.. they do what their fans want to hear/see. Recently Williams chose to do an album with rap vocals and look what happens to him... just because he's doing what he likes to do. Now - if JMJ says he wants to have only 3 people on stage, so be it. Enjoy it or stop yourself calling a fan! Does that mean you can't critise an artist? sure, but demanding him to do something he stopped doing yeeaars ago, like that - doesn't make sense to me. Then if you want to see that so badly, sit on the couch with popcorn and watch a dvd of an old concert... :P

Now let's return ontopic before this turns into a playback/i-want-a-band-on-stage-thread...

I have always loved the "Original" Concert in China. Wasn't that like 3 or 4 keyboard players??? Maybe it will be something like that. How about Place De La Concorde. Again wasn't that just Jarre and Michel Geiss?

:~D

You will have tons of tv broadcasts with 200 thousand bonus angles and whatever on dvd anyway.. :P

@Moviemaker: CIC was 4 people on stage (3 keyboardists, 1 drummer) and La Concorde was solely JMJ ;)

Yep - I prefer to see that too. This 'sequenced' 'miming' thing gets on my tits to the point that I can't even be bothered to attend a Jarre concert anymore, I still like the music though. IMO they only need a cardboard cut out of Jarre and a CD of his latest album.

The concert is not on his official website though.

There wasn't a band at Aero, apart from Safri Duo,& although I've never seen footage from it,I loved the music,& IMO the best live version of Chronologie 6.
I wont be able to go,because of work,& I my computer can't handle large amounts of video, but do you think the audio will be broadcast on internet radio?
I know he has moved on from the band on stage, but I really would like to hear something different to the Aero style versions like those at Gdansk & the Forbidden city, and of cousre,a taster of the new album.

Francis Rimbert was also on stage at the AERO concert. In the later shows and concerts after the reease of the Aero album, Clause Sammard did also play guitar and keys on stage.

The Morocco concert seems to be the same group of performers. I could imagine some local musicians to play, like in China or Egypt for instance.

Not mine either, but it adds the special sound that makes his concerts different from each other.
