So I was working here, when I suddenly heard March 23 as a ringtone! I was like "WTF" and went looking for the source. I suspected one guy but he left already when I wanted to ask for his ringtone. So I emailed him and said that that ringtone was a default ringtone for the Nokia N70. I was like WTF again.

So I explained that it was a JMJ song and now he wants a copy of the album :)

It wasn't just a ringtone that sounded like it? Anyway we know that JMJ is a Nokia user.

Wasn't MfS about to be called "music for aeroports" or sth?

And I'm sorry but you are wrong. JMJ said in an interview that he initially wanted MFS to be called Music For Airports, but the title was changed because of the Eno record.
When was this interview held then?

The album MFS has waaaaay to many supermarket references to be called airport music (sounds of bottles in crates, the words "vegitables, veg, vegitables" that were used for a track etc etc... (the similar to blahblah café track, those vocodered sounds are the words "vegitables" etc, etc...) the album is filled with supermarket sounds so when he said it in an interview... well...

He must have been doing something else then telling the truth (you learn to recognise the symptoms when you're a JMJ fan for over 20 years....

I'm not the one who is wrong, no matter what JMJ said in that interview ;-)

Either way...

MfS was released august 1983, at least a year after the interview so whatever he said there during one of those interviews would be about a future project and you don't know for sure he was talking about MfS or something else. Also somehow i got the feeling you were refereing to an interview taken after it was released, most likely an interview about zoolook (many interviews in that period).... so around 1985....

In that case i'm not sure I should take it seriously what he said, most likely he said it to please someone... or he mentioned eno just because eno was hugely popular around that era as a producer and innovator in electronic music and you just had to mention him (most likely because the interviewer brought the subject eno up however, interviews are a conversation ofcourse in wich there re at least two sides (unlike EPKs)

hack, I don't know, i've never heard his say such things anyway so...

And again, MfS is too much about supermarket sounds to be compared with airports anyway (WICH WAS MY ORIGINAL POINT)

There is however a big similarity between WfC and ambient 1 music for airports though, take a listen mate ;-)

He could have thought about making an airport album, but then decided to make a supermarket album instead and incorporated supermarket sounds after that decision.

Oh well. They're kind of irrelevant details to me :P
