Jarre has played in some controversial contries before; Russia, Egypt, China (twice).... these are not always considered as the nicest kids in the kindergarden by many people.

Jarre said around 12 DOTS that you can't change people if you isolate them. Maybe he does not have to pick a side? Maybe the occasion is the anniversary but the theme is peace, love and flowers?

Did someone translate or make a summary of the video yet?

Glenn, exactly!

Even though I can see Antigoon's point of view, the only way to make changes is from the inside. And no matter the origins of the conflict, by now there is a little blame from both sides...nuff said.

Jarre has always shown a great respect for diversity and freedom of thought/religion. I think this is his way of promoting peace and unity in a place that really needs it! I don't think that he is Pro Isreali or Pro Palestinian. He doesn't take sides in a negative way and has great respect for opposing views. As Mother Theresa once said, "i'll never go to an anti-war rally, but I will attend a pro-peace rally." Jarre is using the opportunity in a purely positive way to promote the ideals of UNESCO because all eyes will be watching. Just hope he does it with Francis & Co.

As John Lennon would say: :peacemaan:

Antigoon I don't think that Jean Michel Jarre will be happy to hear
all your lies and the hate towards my beloved country ISRAEL.

ANYWAY
to the normal ppl in this forum. here is what Jean says in interview to Israeli Newspaper.

"For me to come to israel it's like a dream come true, I love Israel very much and I'm connected to her emotionally, I never performed in israel but I visited her as a tourist. My grandmother is Jewish therefore there's something that connects me to this country from family aspect. I have a great interest also from humane aspect and also from professional aspect.

My grandmother talked about Jerusalem many times and how much this city is special and amazing, but i never understood what she really meant until I come here.
Now i'm in an emotional whirlpool that I've never experienced for many years.

I think I'm being a bit harsh towards this Israeli - but

- I don't want to have a major Israel vs. Palestine debate in here.. specially not when it escalates in some huge fight...
- Respect is one of the few rules here.

Should I act differently?

Opinions!

Saying "Israel vs. Palestine" is just plain wrong, it should be "Israel vs. Terrorists".

I'm sure most Palestinians are good people and unfortunately they have to suffer due to the lunatic antics of their extreme groups.

Of course I'd love to chat more about this subject but I'm gonna quote an earlier post of mine and wear my "Support Israel" T-shirt now and then 8)
The whole conflict is complicated but can be blamed on the acts of Western (more correctly, British) Imperialism and how poorly the situation had been handled back in the day. ...Wait, that's not correct, the conflict has been there since the Jews were exiled from Jerusalem during the Roman times, and hell, probably even before. It's something that will probably never be solved, mostly due to religious reasons, but also because the area hasn't seen a non-violent act in just about 2000 years. The Crusaders slaughtered all the Muslims during the 1000s, the Ottoman era came to an end because of the Brits and what can be seen in the Middle East are beastly, vile and greedy acts when bunch of people attack bunch of other people with vague reasons, but most likely don't know the reason of the conflict at all.

Most Israelis and Palestines are probably good people and what appears on the news is just the work of some lunatics like Hamas or Army of Islam etc. or some Israeli soldier who decided it would just be dandy to cap a few Palestines just for kicks. Same thing what the Americans have done in Vietnam and Iraq (My Lai massacre, Abu-Ghraib, Gitmo, etc.). Ruanda? Nazis? Soviets? Iraqis? Stating the obvious, Israel is just one of those places on Earth where humanity is driven by beastly AKA violent acts. Hell, lately it has been demonstrated that the Palestines don't even get along themselves, so wiping Israel out of the map like a certain other lunatic stated about two years ago wouldn't solve anything.

Look - I'm not against you.

But you can't say you don't respect anyone who has a different opinion or feeling than you have. That won't work...! :)
