Who could have thought that the CD would revolutionize the worlds way in which we listen and think about music. But it did and today the CD is 25 years old and still strong to some extent, even if mp3 is taking over.

So Horray for the CD-record and its sisters and brothers in DVDs and such.

By the way, the first album to be sold as CD was ABBA - The Visitors and the first album to be only produced as a CD were Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms...

I remember back then when I first experienced the CD. My older brother brought a CD-player and a CD home, and the CD was namely the Dire Straits album Brothers In Arms. I was gobsmacked about the fact that a complete album could be on such a small disc.

Happy Anniversary! :D :fine:

yes, and because it was so small, I thought that the CD should have a B-side where the rest would fit onto....

My first cd was "Jean Michel Jarre - In Concert Houston/Lyon"! My father bought it in 1987 from ECI (A Dutch/Flemish book-cd orderstore via catalogue!)... :D

Greetzzz...

Antigoon

I remember seeing and hearing it around 1982 in the evoluon...... In 1987 I bought my first CD, JMJ Cities in concert (someone opened a box in the store and sold all discs seperatly), after that I bought 4US by Doe Maar (now a rare item)

A few months later I bought my first CD player...
