It's a release-to-skip. :)
Uninteresting, like WTDOS.

JM went into Tangerine Dream ; let's release every little minor things.

I would have had nothing against that had it been not just the "current" stuff. What about Web Spinner, Travelator part 1, Travelator part 3, alternate Swipe to the Right, Ethnicolor 2017 (shameless plug), extended Stardust, The Sun, full version of Equinoxe IV from Images or other PLD tracks. There's tons of stuff he's sitting on viable for immediate digital release.

How is this one still completely locked in the archives when it was originally set to be on the bloody album?! :(
Also, alternate Swipe to the Right?

Edit: Thinking about the Swipe to the Right mix, do you mean the snippet we heard in the (presumably unintended) early Album trailer that was included in the downloads for the Fan Edition of Electronica? I remember that sounding different to the final mix, but figured that was just early still since the trailer uses extremely low res photos of Cindy for that segment (well that and she's on the second album).

Yes, I mean this one. I really like it, because it sounds much lighter then the one that ended up on the album (not only it doesn't have that hard four-on-the-floor thumping, also the bass plays different notes, which alters its mood). It was one of many versions (I know there's at least one more). But since this one was already out in the wild (well, the entire 6 seconds of it) why not release it on a digital EP together with an album instrumental version? That's easy money. Everybody wins.

A "first version" of If would have been nice as a low-key release too. It was a rockabilly sounding song before JMJ threw all that away and made a new arrangement, according to interviews with Little Boots and JMJ (I believe it was the Track Story of the song).
Again, I would like to point to Pet Shop Boys who release "Further Listening" albums with their remastered albums, which contain b-sides from that era, mixes and remixes, demos which they deem good enough to put on CD ("studio quality" as they say it), songs they wrote for others in that era but then their own versions (which they probably submitted as such to that artist), etc.

That's the thing with Jarre that I absolutely hate about his re-releases. He/his management absolutely refuse to release anything other than an occasionally (admittedly nice looking) alternate cover on these re-releases.
Yes: Images, Rarities (the official one) and Planet Jarre included great new/unreleased music. But that's three compilations spanning his entire career that did something like this.
I'm well are and have no problem to admit, it's his right to (not) include these tracks on these re-releases. But when there's so much already released in one way or another: Equinoxe Pt. 7/8(Paris La Concorde singles), Equinoxe Pt.4 (Orient Express single), Magnetic Fields Pt. 2/4 Single Edit, Zoolook(ologie) Various Edits + Extended Mix, Revolutions Extended Mix, Calypso Extended Mix, Chronologie Pt. 2 Single Edit, Chronologie Pt. 8 Michel Geiss mix, off the top of my head quickly, why, why, WHY, not include these as an extra? It's a nice incentive to bring in old fans into a new version. And if he's not up for including these into the albums to keep the albums as they are, use a second disc or just release them digitally already. We've got the extended mixes of: Zoolook, Zoolookologie and Rendez-Vous Pt4 through random compilation albums, but that's about it.

Sorry, that went on for a bit longer than I had intended :lol2:

Faster than the vinyl (which isn't sold out yet afaik). Good thing they got to their senses and release a CD then....

And lol@the media telling us CD is dead.

[Edit] apparently you can still buy it on the EU store

Appearing as "sold out" prematurely is likely a marketing tactic to incite FOMO. Also it seems it's available again.

The Pet Shop Boys have managed their career immaculately. Neil and Chris are always on top of quality control with everything they do. Jean-Michel Jarre doesn't have the same attention to detail or even seem to have an overall strategy.
